Membership Fees

Dear Friends of Auburn Historical Society:

It's time to renew your Auburn Historical Society membership. We thank you for your support in the past and sincerely ask for your support once again in order that we might continue to work to make the Auburn Museum and Historical Village even better.

Monies received by way of membership is the lifeline to cover the day-to-day running expenses of the Museum and helps to provide a place for the Branch Library and the Adult Education Center.

This is a picture taken at the Richelieu-Bucksville Day in 2008 of Randy Lee and Gail Guiling. Randy with his file was on a membership drive and with his charisma coaxing Gail to become a member.

Time sure changes things - with the boot on the other foot - the 2009-10 membership drive is being spearheaded by Gail. She will be working her charm (long distance) on Randy, who has moved to Florida, but still has a house in Auburn.

The membership fee is $10.00 per person annually. Corporate Membership and Sponsorship is also available which includes free admittance to the Museum throughout the year.

                    Dues may be mailed to:

                    AUBURN HISTORICAL SOCIETY
                    PO Box 794
                    AUBURN
                    KY 42206

                    Thanking you in anticipation:

                     Sincerely

                     Directors & Membership Sub-Committee

American Drummer Boy

On Friday October 30, 2009 the Auburn Historical Society presented a showing of the movie “American Drummer Boy” at the American Legion Hall in Auburn.

The independent film by Writer/Director C. Dorian Walker and Producer, Elain Nogay Walker, was shot in Logan, Warren and Simpson counties in Kentucky and in Memphis, Tennessee.

The story takes place in the Western Theater of the American Civil War and chronicles the coming-of-age of young Johnny Boone who runs away from his Kentucky farm in hopes of joining his hometown unit, Company A of the 11th Kentucky Infantry, U.S. His adventures take him behind Confederate lines where he is captured and accused of being a spy. With the help of a shady English minstrel, he escapes but is forced to masquerade as a Rebel drummer with the 24th Mississippi Regiment. He experiences battle on the other side before eventually escaping to the North and finding his unit. There while serving as a drummer boy, he demonstrates valor under fire and is awarded the Medal of Honor.
